About Me

Most of us possess assumptions about ourselves or others which greatly impact our behavior and emotional experience. Through therapy, I provide a safe and supportive atmosphere in which clients can work toward a greater understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to discover more effective and enjoyable ways of living. It is also my belief that the therapeutic relationship is crucial to healing and meaningful exploration.
Though I was born and raised in Houston, I consider Austin home. Since 2004, I have been a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas. I was certain my passion was psychology after being part of a research team studying obsessive-compulsive disorder at The University of Texas at Austin. After receiving my B.A. in Psychology at UT Austin, I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Southern Methodist University. I was thrilled to return to Austin, where I received my Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited training program in Counseling Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. Over the course of my training, I completed an internship at the University of Houston and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California, both of which are accredited by the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers. After seeing the incredible results from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for various diagnoses, I sought specialized training in CBT from the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Pennsylvania. Common issues I treat include anxiety disorders, depressed mood, dating and social difficulties, intimate relationship problems, poor self-confidence, and difficult life transitions. My approach is a mix of CBT, listening, and problem-solving in a way that can be used immediately in real-life situations. Over the course of my career, I have worked with numerous clients in private practice, corporate settings, outpatient community mental health agencies and university counseling centers. Outside of work, I’m a wife, mom of three teen/tweens, volunteer, friend, and spoiler of two dogs.
